As I've said before, we live on a beautiful 30 acres just outside of Wasilla. When my husband first drove me out here to check out the property he wanted, I admit, I was a little terrified of living out in the boondocks with a little ghetto & our own private scrap metal heap hesitant about being 15-20 mins from town. Once we walked around a bit, I forgot my hesitancy and fell in love with the place. I loved the grass meadow, the beautiful birch trees, the fireweed (that blooms in the fall, which happened to be the season we were looking), the view of the mountains, and the quiet. It's so peaceful and quiet out here, I.love.it. Making the place even cooler for me is the fact that it was once an old homestead, both my parent's grew up on Alaskan homesteads so it gave the place a personal history (and a lot of junk to boot!:). We have lived out here for 3 years and I have rarely been sorry we are in the "country" (those few times I was there were many other factors involved that really had nothing to do with my place). This year, now that both boys are old to traipse about without being held every 10 mins, we have done a lot more exploring during the daytime hours when daddy isn't home. This week I decided to document in pictures our little outing to share with all of you. I hope you enjoy our walk through the woods....

We found animal bones! The boys LOVE bones haha, go figure! |
I am not sure what this particular hunk of metal is. Any guesses? Sluice box perhaps? |
An old pull behind rake for a tractor. The tractor it once belonged to was stolen the day we signed on the property. Don't get me started on how upset & disappointed I was! |
Through the woods we go! |
We also found moose poop...LOTS & LOTS of moose poop |
Poor Josh scraped his leg up good, he wasn't so great at self propulsion after that. |
We wore the old dog out, never thought this day would come ! |
We thanked God for the sunshine & marveled at it's beauty! |
This is from inside a clearing. Forests are cool. |

Someone's old tree stand. |
